Rowlatt Acts, (February 1919) was a legislation passed by
the Imperial Legislative Council. The acts allowed certain
political cases to be tried without juries and permitted
internment of suspects without trial. This act effectively
authorized the government to imprison any person
suspected of terrorism living in British India for up to two
years without a trial and gave the imperial authorities
power to deal with all revolutionary activities.
