Renewable sources of energy are derived from natural resources that are replenished over relatively short time scales, such as sunlight, wind, water, and biomass. Non-renewable sources of energy, on the other hand, are finite resources that are depleted over time and cannot be replenished within human lifetimes, such as fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas) and nuclear energy (uranium). Renewable energy sources are considered more sustainable and environmentally friendly than non-renewable sources.
