Manipur is called “A Jewel land” of India. Manipur is a Jeweled land because it is surrounded by nine hills with an oval-shaped valley at the center, a naturally made Jewel.
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru called Manipur the “Jewel of India”.
Manipur literally means “Land of Gems” and is one of the developing States among the seven sisters of the North Eastern States.
