The title “Father of Indian English Literature” is often attributed to Sir Raja Ram Mohan Roy. He was a key figure in the early development of English literature in India, though his primary contributions were in social reform and education. For his literary works in English, Rabindranath Tagore, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913, is also a significant figure in Indian English literature.
