Guru Hargobind’s army quickly grew in number and Sikhs began to call Guru Hargobind, “true king”. A fort was created outside of Amritsar and Guru Hargobind had set up his own court in the Akal Takht.
The title “True King” (Sachcha Patshah) was often attributed to Guru Hargobind, the sixth Sikh Guru. He was the first Guru to emphasize the concept of Miri and Piri, symbolizing temporal and spiritual authority, and he carried two swords representing these aspects. Guru Hargobind also established the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikh authority, underscoring his role as both a spiritual leader and a temporal ruler, thus earning the title “True King.”
