Lakshmi Bai, the Queen of Jhansi province, was a leader
in the Indian Rebellion of 1857. She was defeated by Sir
Huge Rose who was the British field Marshal and one of
the ablest commanders during the Indian Mutiny (1857-
58).
Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi was defeated by British officer Hugh Rose during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. He led the forces that ultimately overcame her resistance in Jhansi, although she fought valiantly and is remembered as a symbol of courage and rebellion against British rule.
