The Dandi March marked the beginning of the Civil Disobedience Movement in 1930. Led by Mahatma Gandhi, this act of nonviolent protest involved marching from Sabarmati Ashram to the coastal village of Dandi to produce salt from seawater, defying British colonial laws that imposed a tax on salt.
