India accepted the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer on September 19, 1992. The Montreal Protocol is an international treaty designed to protect the ozone layer by phasing out the production and consumption of ozone-depleting substances (ODS) such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), halons, and other related chemicals. India’s acceptance of the protocol signifies its commitment to global environmental efforts aimed at safeguarding the Earth’s ozone layer and mitigating the adverse effects of ozone depletion on human health and the environment.
