Answer: Aconcagua, located in the Andes mountains on the border of Argentina and Chile, is the highest mountain peak outside of Asia. With a summit elevation of 6,962 meters (22,841 ft), it is also the highest mountain in the Americas. Aconcagua is a popular challenge for climbers, but its altitude and harsh weather conditions can be dangerous.
