Antibodies are proteins produced by the immune system that recognize and neutralize pathogens such as bacteria and viruses.
Antibodies are basically protein structure having a Y shape. A single Antibody molecule consists of two light chains and two heavy chains . The chains are connected to each other through disulphide linkages. Antibodies are produced by our immune system and its basic function is to hold the pathogens and microbes so that WBCs can act on the pathogens and microbes and kill them. There are 5 types of antibodies that differ according to their structure and functions.
