Camelus Bactrianus is known as a two-humped camel, Bactrian camel, Domestic Bactrian, or Mongolian camel. Two-humped camels are herbivores and can grow up to seven feet tall at the shoulder and weigh up to 2K pounds. They are well adapted to the harsh cold climate of their native habitat, their thick fur and a double layer of eyelashes protect them from the icy winds and blowing sand.
Bactrian camels have two humps – like the letter “B”. The humps are used to store fat that converts to energy when needed. Bactrian camels are shorter and heavier than the one-humped dromedary camels found in Africa and the Middle East.
