The Jamaican tangelo, also known by proprietary names ugli fruit and uniq fruit, is a citrus fruit that arose on the island of Jamaica through the natural hybridization of a tangerine or orange with a pomelo or (grapefruit ), and is thus a tangelo.
The hybrid of grapefruit, orange, and tangerine is called a tangelo. Tangelos are a cross between a tangerine and a pomelo or grapefruit, and they’re known for their sweet and tangy flavor, as well as their easy-to-peel skin. There are several varieties of tangelos, including the popular Minneola tangelo, which has a distinctive bell shape and bright orange color.
