In mathematics, particularly graph theory, and computer science, a directed acyclic graph is a directed graph with no directed cycles. That is, it consists of vertices and edges, with each edge directed from one vertex to another, such that following those directions will never form a closed loop.
An acyclic graph is a graph having no graph cycles. Acyclic graphs are bipartite.
The numbers of acyclic graphs (forests) on n=1, 2, … are 1, 2, 3, 6, 10, 20, 37, 76, 153, … (OEIS A005195), and the corresponding numbers of connected acyclic graphs (trees) are 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 6, 11, 23, 47, 106, … (OEIS A000055).
