A geomembrane is a specially manufactured synthetic liner used to control the movement of liquids or gases in different construction and environmental applications. It creates a low-permeability barrier between the contained material and the surrounding soil. Common materials used for geomembrane production include HDPE, LLDPE, PVC, and other polymers. The right material depends on the project conditions and the type of substance that needs to be contained. Geomembranes are frequently used in landfills, wastewater ponds, agricultural reservoirs, mining areas, canals, industrial containment systems, and water-storage projects. Their main purpose is to reduce unwanted seepage and provide better control over liquids.
