A blizzard is a severe snowstorm with strong winds and low visibility, typically defined by sustained winds of 35 mph (56 km/h) or greater and snow or blowing snow that reduces visibility to less than a quarter mile. It occurs in conditions of cold temperatures and significant snowfall.
