What are some lesser-known destinations in India that offer unique cultural experiences?
Consider exploring Hampi in Karnataka for its ancient ruins, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh for intricately carved temples, or the heritage village of Lachen in Sikkim for a glimpse of Tibetan culture. These destinations provide distinct cultural encounters beyond the well-known spots in India.
India has plenty of destinations that are lesser known but with singular cultural experiences. Hampi in Karnataka offers a singular experience with ancient ruins and stunning architecture, Gokarna with serene beaches and some major Hindu temples. Mawlynnong in Meghalaya, lyrified as Asia’s cleanest village, offers a peep into the traditional Khasi culture. Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh is gorgeously opulent in its monasteries and scenic views. Bundi in Rajasthan has beautiful forts with traditional murals. Among them, the biggest river island in the world is Assam’s Majuli. It is famous for its Vaishnavite monasteries and festivals. Places like these have a lot of cultural significance and are off the beaten path of tourism.
