It was the Madras session of 1927 that for the first time
the Congress called for Poorna Swaraj, or complete
freedom, with Jawaharlal Nehru moving the
Independence Resolution and the demand for ‘Poorna
swaraj’ or complete independence was adopted at Lahore
session of Congress in December 1929.
