Geocomposites support drainage systems by collecting and transporting excess water away from soil structures. They commonly contain a drainage core combined with one or two geotextile layers. The geotextile allows water to enter while restricting the movement of soil particles, and the core provides pathways for water flow. This arrangement can help reduce water pressure behind retaining walls, beneath foundations, and around underground structures. Effective drainage is important because accumulated water may weaken soil, increase structural pressure, and contribute to settlement.
