How did the concept of God evolve in Hinduism from the Vedic period to classical Hinduism?
In the Vedic period of Hinduism (circa 1500–500 BCE), the focus was on a pantheon of deities associated with natural forces and rituals. Over time, during the classical period (from about 500 BCE onwards), Hinduism evolved to include a more abstract concept of the divine, with major philosophical developments such as the concept of Brahman (the ultimate, unchanging reality) and the emergence of major deities like Vishnu, Shiva, and Devi, each representing different aspects of the divine.
