This is one of the most common misconceptions about ceramic coating. While ceramic coating adds a protective layer to the paint, it is not designed to stop rock chips, deep scratches, or major physical damage. The coating can help reduce very light swirl marks and minor surface marring caused by improper washing techniques, but it will not protect against stones, shopping cart impacts, key scratches, or other significant hazards. The protective layer is simply too thin to absorb heavy impacts. If protection from rock chips and physical damage is your primary goal, Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a better solution. Many car owners combine PPF with ceramic coating to achieve maximum protection.
