21st February is called Shaheed Diwas mainly in Bangladesh, not India. It marks the Language Movement of 1952, where students were killed while protesting for the recognition of Bengali as an official language. That day later became International Mother Language Day as well. In India, this date doesn’t have the same meaning, which is why it can be confusing when people hear “Shaheed Diwas” used for different days. The context changes depending on the country.
