Dreams within dreams, also known as nested dreams, occur when your brain creates a layer of consciousness within another layer while you sleep. This can happen during REM sleep, where dreams are most vivid and complex. These dreams can feel particularly surreal and often blur the lines between reality and the dream state. The phenomenon reflects the brain’s incredible ability to create intricate and multi-layered experiences, even while we’re unconscious.
