The loop, known as a “locker loop” or “coat loop,” was created for practical use in the 1960s. It allowed men to hang their shirts on hooks in locker rooms or dormitories, keeping them wrinkle-free without needing a hanger. Today, it’s more of a design element, though it still serves the same function if required.
