The primary reason desert plants bloom at night is to attract pollinators which are active during the night.
Most desert insects are nocturnal, as the desert is cooler and predators are fewer. Therefore, by blooming at night, these plants enhance their chance of pollination.
Their blooming is controlled by low temperature. They are sensitive to the phases of moon. The desert insects eat away flowers during day time.
In desert conditions, most of the activity of the plants and animals happens during the night because of very high temperature in the day time.
