Maues, also known as Moga, was the first Saka king of India in the first century BCE. Maues was a chieftain who founded the Saka dynasty by invading India and Bactria (present-day Afghanistan) around 130 BCE. The Sakas, also known as the Indo-Scythians or Indo-Sakas, were nomadic Iranian people who conquered the Indo-Greeks and other local peoples in the northwest subcontinent. They were known for their equestrian skills and mastery of horse-riding culture.
