The first astronaut to go to space twice was Gus Grissom, an American astronaut. He flew on the Mercury-Redstone 4 (Liberty Bell 7) mission on July 21, 1961, and later on the Gemini 3 mission on March 23, 1965. Grissom’s contributions to the early years of space exploration were significant, and he played a vital role in NASA’s efforts to send humans into space.
