He is a devout Muslim but he dresses as Hindu Gods and dances with the dancers, puts kohl in his eyes, writes poetry and composes music in his Durbar- the kind hearted king practically does everything except administrative work which is left to his staff. He was more attracted to the game of chess.
The film portrays him as a tragic figure, caught between the decline of his kingdom and his own personal indulgences.
Amjad Khan’s performance in this film was highly praised for its subtlety and nuance, showcasing his versatility as an actor.
