Kiran Bedi is the only police officer to have won the Magsaysay award.
Kiran Bedi (born June 9, 1949, Amritsar, India) is an Indian social activist who was the first woman to join the Indian Police Service (IPS) and who was instrumental in introducing prison reform in India.
In May 1993, Bedi was posted to the Delhi Prisons as Inspector General (IG). She introduced several reforms at Tihar Jail, which won her the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1994.
