The integrated circuit (IC) was independently invented by two engineers: Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce.
Jack Kilby developed the first working integrated circuit in 1958 while at Texas Instruments.
Robert Noyce, co-founder of Intel, created a different version of the IC shortly after, in 1959, while working at Fairchild Semiconductor.
Both inventions were crucial in the development of modern electronics, leading to the miniaturization of circuits and the creation of countless electronic devices.
