The Constitution of the United States of America was framed by a committee of 55 delegates who were appointed by the state legislatures of the original 13 states, with the exception of Rhode Island . The Constitutional Convention was held at Independence Hall in Philadelphia between May 25 and September 17, 1787 . Some notable framers of the constitution include ,
