Athletes from Russia and Belarus are forbidden to compete at the Paris Olympics as members of national teams. They will be allowed to compete only as Athlètes Individuals Neutres—or, in English, Individual Neutral Athletes. The International Olympic Committee issued this ban after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine by Russia, which disobeyed the Olympic Truce, the prohibition against attacks a week before the Olympics and a week after the Paralympics.
