The Mahābhārata is considered the world’s longest epic poem, with its longest version containing over 200,000 verse lines and long prose passages. The epic is written in Sanskrit and is attributed to the sage Vyasa. It is set in the Indian subcontinent and tells the story of the Kurukshetra War and the fates of the Kaurava and Pandava princes. The epic’s central themes are dharma (righteousness), duty, and the cosmic struggle between good and evil. The Mahābhārata is believed to have been composed as early as the 4th century and is divided into 18 books, or Parvas. In Indonesia, it is known as Bharatayuddha
