One of the sacred books of Buddhism is the “Tripitaka,” also known as the “Pali Canon.” The Tripitaka is a collection of scriptures that form the doctrinal foundation of Theravada Buddhism and includes three “baskets” or sections: the Vinaya Pitaka (rules for monks), the Sutta Pitaka (discourses of the Buddha), and the Abhidhamma Pitaka (philosophical and doctrinal analysis).
