International Everest Day is observed on May 29th every year to commemorate the first successful ascent of Mount Everest. On May 29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay, a Sherpa of Nepal, reached the summit of Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, for the first time. This day honors their remarkable achievement and celebrates the spirit of human endeavor and exploration.
