Human Rights Day is observed annually on December 10th. It commemorates the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a milestone document proclaiming the inalienable rights to which all human beings are entitled, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status. Human Rights Day is a time to reaffirm our commitment to protecting and promoting human rights for all people and to raise awareness about ongoing human rights issues around the world.
