Lignite and Bituminous are the two types of coal used for thermal power production and metallurgy. Lignite, or brown coal, the lowest rank of coal used almost exclusively as fuel for electric power generation whereas Bituminous is a dense sedimentary rock, usually black often with welldefined bands of bright and dull material.
