The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Specifically, it is situated in the vicinity of the Trombay area. BARC is India’s premier nuclear research facility, focusing on various areas of research and development in nuclear science and engineering, including nuclear power generation, radiation medicine, and nuclear applications in agriculture and industry.
The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), India’s premier nuclear research facility is headquartered in Trombay, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
It was founded by Homi Jehangir Bhabha as Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay (AEET). It served as a multidisciplinary research program essential for India’s nuclear program.
It operates under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), which is directly overseen by the Prime Minister of India.
After the death of Mr. Bhabha, AEET was renamed as Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).
