The Poona Pact was signed on September 24, 1932. This agreement was reached between Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, addressing the reservations and representation of Scheduled Castes in electoral politics, and was a response to the communal tensions and the separate electorates proposed in the British government’s communal award.
