World Television Day is celebrated each year on 21st November to mark the date of the first World Television Forum, conducted in 1996. This day also highlights the value of televisions as a medium that is more than just an electronic gadget. World Television Day celebrates the fact that TV has become one of the most prominent means of entertainment.
World Television Day was founded by the United Nations on 17th December 1996, after the first World Television Forum was successfully held.
It was introduced in India on September 15, 1959, in New Delhi. Every year, World Television Day is celebrated on November 21. World Television Day is observed on November 21 globally to highlight the importance of television as something beyond an electronic tool.
