Sir Chhotu Ram, a prominent leader of the Jat community, played a crucial role in agrarian reforms in pre-independence Haryana. He championed the cause of farmers and introduced policies to protect them from exploitation by moneylenders. His efforts led to the implementation of the Punjab Relief Indebtedness Act and the Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act, which improved the socio-economic conditions of farmers.
