The Salt March, also known as the Salt Satyagraha, was a nonviolent protest organized by Mahatma Gandhi against the British salt monopoly in colonial India. It took place from March to April 1930. Gandhi and his followers marched 240 miles from Sabarmati Ashram to the coastal town of Dandi in Gujarat to make salt from seawater, defying British laws. This act of civil disobedience became a significant event in India’s struggle for independence.
