Wax is a solid, hydrophobic substance that is typically composed of long-chain fatty acids and alcohols. It is known for its pliability, water resistance, and ability to melt at relatively low temperatures. Waxes are found in nature (like beeswax and carnauba wax) and are also synthetically produced. They have various uses, including in candles, cosmetics, coatings, and as sealants.
