The ribosomes are made of two subunits, the large and the small subunit which comprises ribosomal RNA (rRNA) and proteins. In prokaryotes, ribosomes are made up from three different rRNA molecules, whereas in eukaryotes ribosomes are made up from four different rRNA molecules.
