The second stroke in a petrol engine is the compression stroke. This stroke occurs after the intake stroke, where the air-fuel mixture is drawn into the combustion chamber. During the compression stroke, the piston moves upward, compressing the air-fuel mixture to a high pressure and temperature. This compression helps in creating a more efficient combustion process, as it increases the energy released during the power stroke.
