The motto “Spirit in Motion” was introduced in 2004 by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
It was officially launched ahead of the Athens 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece.
The IPC wanted a motto that captured movement, determination, and inner strength — not sympathy, not limitation — but forward momentum. Since then, “Spirit in Motion” has represented the identity and philosophy of the global Paralympic Games.
The Paralympic motto is “Spirit in Motion”. The motto was introduced in 2004 at the Paralympic Games in Athens. The previous motto was “Mind, Body, Spirit”, introduced in 1994.
