The largest lake in the world is the Caspian sea. Located between eastern Europe and western Asia, it has a surface area of 371,000 sq km. The Caspian sea stretches over a length of 1,030 km and reaches a maximum depth of 1,025 m. Its volume is 78,200 cubic km. The Volga river provides 80 per cent of the inflowing water.
The Caspian Sea in Central Asia is, by far, the largest lake worldwide with 386,000 square kilometers.
