History. Ant (“Another Neat Tool”) was conceived by James Duncan Davidson while preparing Sun Microsystems’s reference JSP and Servlet engine, later Apache Tomcat, for release as open-source.
The full form of Apache ANT is Another Neat Tool. It is an automation tool for the code buildong process of an application.
