The main difference between the internet and an intranet is that the internet is a public network, while an intranet is a private network for a specific organization
Internet is a huge network that connects computer networks across the world. It uses the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP). An intranet is a network connection similar to the internet but it is limited by the users within an organization. It can include several LANs or leased lines in the wide-area network.
The main difference between the intranet and the internet comes down to access. The internet is a global collection of computer networks. It’s an open network, accessible to anyone with a device and an internet connection. In contrast, the intranet is a closed, online network, only accessible to company employees
