In Hindi, nouns are gendered. Masculine nouns typically end in a consonant or “आ” (aa), while feminine nouns often end in “ी” (ee) or “आं” (aan). For instance, “किताब” (kitaab – book) is feminine, while “पुस्तक” (pustak – also book, but considered masculine in some contexts) can be masculine. This affects verb conjugation and adjective agreement in sentences.
