A stock represents ownership in a company and constitutes a claim on part of the company’s assets and earnings. Stocks can provide dividends and capital gains but come with higher risk. A bond is a debt security where the issuer owes the bondholder a fixed amount of interest and principal repayment over time. Bonds are generally considered lower risk compared to stocks but offer lower potential returns.
